Mariah Carey celebrated the first night of Hanukkah by teaching her kids a new song. The superstar shared a clip showing her children, twins Moroccan and Monroe, listening to her as she sings, “Hanukkah is coming, Hanukkah is coming. That’s the time we have the happiest days.”
The “Hero” singer captioned her tweet, “Happy Hanukkah!!! Learned this one in grade school, thought I’d teach it to Roc & Roe, I don’t think they’ve got it yet.”
Carey is appearing on a holiday special for AppleTV+ set to premiere Friday titled, “Mariah’s Christmas: The Magic Continues.”
The streaming site recently released a trailer for the upcoming Christmas program where she will sing her new single, “Fall In Love At Christmas” with Khalid and Grammy winner Kirk Franklin.
The "Fantasy" singer shared the trailer on her Instagram page and wrote, "Warming up the sleigh and prepping the reindeer for our holiday extravaganza together! Arriving to your screens December 3rd on @appletvplus! _✨☃️ #TheMagicContinues."
In the trailer, Carey is dressed in a sparkly gold low-cut gown as she sings “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” with backup dancers wearing Tuxedos and a choir.
A voice-over says, “Mariah is back with an all-new Holiday special event,” before the camera pans to Carey who then says, “I can’t not celebrate Christmas with the world."
The short trailer also showed a cameo appearance by Moroccan and Monroe.
The so-called "Queen of Christmas" reappeared at No. 36 of the Billboard Hot 100 last week with her famous holiday tune, “All I Want For Christmas." According to Billboard, the track currently has 11.2 million streams in the U.S., 8.2 million radio airplay and 2,700 units sold in the Nov. 12 to 18 tracking week of MRC data.
In a recent interview with ET, Carey revealed that she intentionally makes Christmas extra special to compensate for the sad Christmases she had while growing up.
"When I wrote about Christmas, I was like, 'Oh wait, I don’t want to bring people down,' 'cause this seemed like depressing stuff that happened. But that’s the reason that it motivated me to really go all the way in every Christmas, every year. I just want my kids to have the best time, and honestly, a lot of it is for me,” she said in the interview.
Recently, she teamed up with McDonald’s for their Famous Orders campaign.
Beginning Dec. 13, the fast-food chain will be offering Mariah Menu, which showcases the singer’s favorite items such as the classic cheeseburger, Big Mac, soft-baked chocolate chip cookies and warm apple pie.
