Listen to Episode 55 of ‘Up In The Blue Seats’: Rangers’ stunning firings feat. Nick Fotiu
John Davidson and Jim DolanAP

In the words of Ron Burgundy…boy…that escalated quickly.

James Dolan flexed his kazoo and stunningly fired Rangers GM Jeff Gorton and team president John Davidson on Wednesday, right after the entire Tom Wilson saga took place less than 48 hours prior. It’s safe to say we have a jam-packed new episode of the “Up In The Blue Seats” podcast for you with Ron Duguay, Mollie Walker, Larry Brooks and former Rangers enforcer Nick Fotiu.

Up In The Blue Seats Podcast with Ron & Mollie:

  • GORTON/DAVIDSON FIRINGS: How did this all transpire? Was this the right decision? Will Chris Drury be the permanent fixture at GM?
  • TOM WILSON REACTIONS: Mark Messier had some comments on the Rangers needing to have players that can win a fight in the streets or alley. Could Messier become the next Rangers head coach or team president?

Larry Brooks Interview:
NY Post Rangers beat writer

  • FRONT OFFICE: Dolan wanted to push the process along. Was not satisfied with where the team was. They have a lot of similar players and need more toughness. They are too one-dimensional.
  • WILSON: Rangers did what they needed to do, but that wasn’t a true line brawl like the ole days. There needs to be a discussion about supplementary discipline.

Nick Fotiu Interview:
Former Rangers center (1976-1985)

  • RANGERS RESPONSE: Got to be proud of them, but they don’t have guys that know how to fight. “I would have jumped over the boards at Wilson.”
  • TOUGHNESS: Need tough players in today’s game. They should have been developing tougher players. K’Andre Miller has to be more physical.
