Kentucky vs. Georgia line, prediction: Woes will continue for young Wildcats

Kentucky is off to its worst start in recent history with a 4-8 record and will look to get back on track Wednesday against a Georgia program that is fresh off of a weekend road win against Ole Miss.

For Kentucky, the offense has been one of the least efficient in a power conference, ranking 249th in the country in points scored on a per possession basis thanks in large part to turning the ball over on 21.2 percent of its possessions, which is 280th among Division I teams.

Despite this and a dismal 4-8 record, the Wildcats find themselves a favorite over a Georgia team that has generated a steal on 11.6 of its possessions on defense, which rates 27th in the country.

Georgia also has six players who are averaging over nine points per game with all of them also providing at least 3.5 rebounds per game, and that is without including freshman K.D. Johnson, who is finally on the court for the team after missing the first 10 games of the season. In his first two games, Johnson has averaged 17.5 points per game for a Bulldogs bunch that has scored at least 69 points in all but one of its games so far this season.

Kentucky brought back just one player that registered a point from its 2019-20 season and this group’s lack of chemistry coupled with the brand name of being Kentucky has led the Wildcats to a dismal 4-7-1 against the spread start, and one that will continue until an adjustment is made for what this version of the Wildcats is as opposed to the program’s triumphs of previous seasons.

The play: Georgia +3.5.
