The Rangers placed DeAngelo, 25, on unconditional waivers for the purpose of buying out the final year of his two-year, $9.6 million pact.

He was initially waived after reportedly pushing goalie Alex Georgiev in the tunnel after a January game, and also made headlines for his divisive social media presence during his four years with the team.

DeAngelo recorded four goals, 26 assists and 30 points during the 2018-19 season before leading all Rangers defenseman with 15 goals, 38 assists and 53 points the following year. The Sewell, NJ native had one assist in six games in the COVID-shortened 2021 season.
