Adobe Flash Player has played an important role in the development of web as we know it today. Developers used Flash for developing apps, animations, games, web apps and more. In 2005, Adobe bought Macromedia and their entire product line which also included MacroMedia Flash. Later, it was renamed to Adobe Flash Player with the addition of 3D support.
Although, the player had its limitations. Slow performance and security concerns made Flash hard to use and with other platforms like HTML 5 emerging and making their name for safety and fast performance, the users of Adobe Flash shifted.
Some developers used Adobe Flash Player for developing their web apps and animations even in 2021. Adobe stopped the official support for Flash on December 31, 2020 and has removed all the official download links from their website and won’t be releasing any security updates in the future.

Most importantly, we recommend you to not use Adobe Flash because of its high number of security issues even until the end of its time. But if your work can only be done using Flash, you can workaround the block from Adobe by using Flash’s older version.
You can run an older version of Adobe Flash Player on a virtual machine. A virtual machine essesntially creates an operating system on top of your operating system. So, your real computer is never in danger from the security issues of the Flash Player. You can use free services like VMware for creating a virtual machine. Download an older version of the Flash Player, preferably the one launched in May 2020 as it does not have a built-in kill switch. After you have set up your virtual machine, run the older version of the Flash player and remember to turn off automatic updates. The fluidity and experience of the player depends on the hardware of your system as virtual machines use a lot of a performance.
