How to fix Farming Simulator (FS) 22 Controller/Gamepad not working issue?

A lot of Farming Simulator 22 players have started reporting about the issues they are facing regarding the game and one of the most commonly reported issues has been the controller not working. According to players, whenever they try to connect their controllers or gamepads, the game fails to recognize them and these do not work.

ENABLE CONTROLLER IN THE GAME MENU

This is the first thing you have to do if you find any issues related to the controllers or gamepads in the game Farming Simulator 22. You have to check if the controllers are enabled in the game menu. Here are the steps that you can follow –

Launch the game through Steam.

Next, go to options. Under the General settings, you will have an option that says “Gamepads/Steering Wheels”. You have to make sure that it is turned on, so click on On.

Next, you can go ahead and launch the game. See if the controller works.

ENABLE THE IN-GAME SETTINGS.XML FILE

This is the next thing you have to do if enabling the controller in the game menu does not work. You have to enable the in-game settings.xml file on your PC. Here are the steps on how to do so –

Open Files Explorer on your system. Right there, go to this PC.

In this PC, open C-Drive. From all the options available, open the Users folder.

In the Users folder, open the folder of your username. In there, open the documents folder.

In the documents folder, search for the My Games folder. In My Games, you will find the game folder of Farming Simulator 22. Open this folder.

After opening the game folder, you will find a file with the name gamesettings.xml. Go and make a right-click on that file. Once all the options are available, go on and select Open With and open the file with Notepad.

Once the file is opened in Notepad, you will find a lot of commands in there. One such command will be –

Now here is what you have to do. If you have the gamepad enabled as false, go ahead and turn it to true so that it looks something like this –

After doing this, you can go ahead, click on File on the top left corner and then click on Save.

Finally, go and try launching the game once more. You should be able to use the controllers fine.

DELETE ALL FILES STARTING WITH INPUT FROM THE PROFILE TEMPLATE FOLDER

This is the next most efficient thing you can do to solve the issue of the controller not working – delete the input profile template files. This has reportedly solved the issue for a lot of players, and hopefully can do the same for you too! Here is what you have to do –

Make a right-click on the game in Steam.

From the options, select Manage and then click on Browse Local Files. It will straightway take you to the game installation folder.

Open Profile Template folder there. In there, you have to delete all the files that start with input. But before deleting, make sure that you have created a backup for the profile template files, so that if something wrong happens you can go ahead and put the files back in. After that, delete all the files starting with input.
