First of all, the community is of the consensus that the issue is due to a corrupted save file. When you load into this corrupted save, there is a high chance that you will run into this bug. That being said, the latest patch is supposed to fix this. We have explained what we mean in the next section.

Update/Hotfix 3

While the developers have been coming up with patches, the bug was one with a tough shell, and players were still facing it. This was true till Hot Fix 2. But now, the developers have released Hot Fix 3, which has solved the issue once and for all! This is also the first thing to check for if you are still facing the bug. Make sure that you have the latest patch downloaded and installed.  If you are still facing the issue after downloading Hot Fix 3, here are a few more workarounds to try.

A bunch of simple workarounds

The first thing to do is restart the game and if that does not solve the issue, try rebooting your PC. The next thing to do is to make sure your internet is running fine without any dips or other issues. To verify this, try rebooting the router or switching to different networks altogether. If the issue persists, restart the game again, and this time, try switching servers by clicking the button right below the Deploy button on the game’s main menu.

Wipe Character

This workaround is perhaps the most popular one. Keep in mind that this is not the optimal way to fix the issue. However, this was the only way to get rid of the headless/secure container missing bug before Hot Fix 3. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Accessing the Main Menu: When you face the disappearance of your secure container, quests, or even your character’s head, the first step is to navigate to the main menu of the game.

  • Locating the “Wipe Character” Option: Once in the main menu, look for the option labeled “wipe character.” This option is typically located in the bottom right corner of the screen.

  • Selecting “Wipe Character”: Click on the “wipe character” option to initiate the process. This action essentially resets your character’s profile, reverting it to its initial state. Keep in mind that selecting “wipe character” comes with consequences. All progress, inventory items, currency, and quest completions will be reset to zero. Essentially, you’re starting the game anew.

  • Customizing Your Character: After selecting “wipe character”, you’ll be asked to confirm your selection. After you do so, customize your character’s appearance. Go ahead and choose your character’s hairstyle, color, facial features, and faction.

Once you have made your choices, you will load into the menu with a new character. Now, you’ll need to reacquire quests, rebuild your inventory, and regain any progress that was lost. It’s a challenging process, but it can work if the above-mentioned workarounds don’t.

Well, that is all we have to share on this matter. We hope your doubts regarding the same are cleared. Anyway, for all your other gaming-related queries, make sure to visit DigiStatement first. Read more: Hades II Crashing/Not Working on Steam Deck: Is there any fix yet
