Now, during the online tactical battles and thrilling missions, you might have come across an error message in the game. Let’s see if there’s a way to resolve this error.

Sadly, as of writing this guide, there isn’t an official fix for this error code specifically. However, the developers have mentioned that they have already fixed the unable to join squad issue that’s related to the game’s anti-cheat in the latest hotfix update for the game. But if you continue to encounter the same issue, here’s what you can do:

First things first

First things first, try restarting the game and checking if the servers are functioning properly. Since the game recently launched, a sudden surge of players may have overwhelmed the servers, leading to issues with matchmaking. So, before trying anything else, first, close the game and verify the server status via Twitter/X as there isn’t a dedicated website available yet. If everything appears to be fine, reopen the game and try joining your friends again.

Check your internet

What we mean by this is to reboot your router, switch to a wired connection for more stable connectivity, or even try a different network altogether to rule out any issues stemming from your side. If the issue persists, then try the next workaround.

Wait for sometime

As stated earlier, the game’s servers are currently experiencing an influx of new players. So, we suggest you either wait for a while before trying to join again. If the issue persists, check out the next fix.

Download the hotfix

Hotfix 1 for Gray Zone Warfare addresses server-side crashes and other related issues. The patch notes of this hotfix also mentioned that issues related to the anti-cheat system have been resolved, which should allow players to join servers/squads without running into errors. So, if you have an update pending for the game, now is the time to download it!

Try Changing Server locations

Another thing you can try is switching up the server in-game. If you are not aware of how to pull this off, it’s easy! Just head over to the home screen and look for the drop-down menu located below the Deploy button. You will then be presented with a list of servers available. From there, you can select the server you want to join. With a different server selected, see if you still face any issues while trying to join a squad. You can also try using a VPN if the server lags are too much to deal with.

Verify Files

Some players have claimed that a normal verification of the files did the trick for them. So, to verify the game files, all you need to do is open the Steam Client and right-click on the game from your Library. After that, click on the Properties option, and then on the Installed Files tab. Here, select the option to verify the integrity of the files. Relaunch the game after the verification process and see if you can join a squad.

Anti-Virus

We also recommend players try disabling their system’s anti-virus software or making sure that the game along with the anti-cheat program is added to the whitelist of the anti-virus program in issue. Sometimes, overly aggressive anti-virus measures can interfere with the game’s ability to connect to servers properly. Similarly, players should also ensure that both the game and the anti-cheat are whitelisted on the Windows Firewall.

Run the Anti Cheat executable

For this workaround, head to the path given below to locate the Easy Anti-cheat’s executable file: C:Program Files (x86)Steam/steamapps/common/Gray Zone Warfare”. Here, in the Gray Zone Warfare folder, you should be able to find another folder with the name “EasyAntiCheat”. All you have to do is open it and run EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process and then relaunch the game to see if the issue persists.
