Far Cry 7 Release Date, Gameplay, Trailer & more

The Far Cry franchise has been going strong for over a decade and half now, under the umbrella of Ubisoft Entertainment and their modified version of Cryptek’s engine, which they call the Dunia engine: in this article, we will be taking a look at the prospect of Far Cry 7 being in the works and when it could possibly be coming out. Right, let’s get into it.

The Far Cry franchise has always been in the first-person shooter genre, and the recently released Far Cry 6 was no different. Though there are no storyline connections between any of the mainline instalments of the franchise, every single game in the series puts the player into a large open world filled with both wildernesses and urban jungles where the player must deal with a despotic ruler and also fend off wild animals while they are doing so.

After the release of every single Far Cry game except for Far Cry 2, there was first a spin-off based on the storyline and using the characters of the previous mainline instalment to the series. While there was indeed a spin-off Far Cry game released after Far Cry 4, this time, it was Far Cry Primal and was Ubisoft’s risky venture into the prehistoric era as the setting for a first-person shooter game.

If this trend were to continue, it would mean that we will first be getting a spin-off Far Cry game within a year or two. It may or may not be based on the events of Far Cry 6. It is only after the release of this potential spin-off that we could be getting the next mainline installation to the series, presumably titled Far Cry 7. The release gaps between every main game have very strictly been 4 years since the first-ever Far Cry in 2004, so it would not be incorrect to assume a 2025 release for the 7th big instalment of the franchise, Far Cry 7.
