Central Park Season 2 Returns: Release date, plot and latest updates on the new part

Central Park, created by Loren Bouchard, is an animated musical comedy that focuses on the landscape of the famous New York City landmark. Central Park began on Apple TV+ with 10 episodes in its first season, each containing a sequence of original and amusing musical routines, co-created with producer Nora Smith and actor Josh Gad.

Loren Bouchard has to be one of the busiest persons in the entertainment industry right now. He’s currently working on The Great North for Fox and the long-awaited feature film version of The Bob’s Burgers Movie in addition to his breakout success Bob’s Burgers, which has surpassed 200 episodes over 12 seasons.

It’s no surprise that Central Park has been extended for two more seasons, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 91% and an average viewer score of 71%.

Kristen Bell, who played Molly on the program, did not return for her role in the second season. Bell chose to resign after admitting that selecting a white actor in the role of a mixed-race character was problematic. Emmy Raver-Lampman  (Umbrella Academy) has taken over the role. Lampman discussed the role and her views on race inclusivity with the Observer in August 2020.

“Now having a biracial woman voicing a biracial character, we can actually have her talk about the struggles of finding the right hair product when you’re half white and half Black,” said Lampman. “We can talk about the struggles of, where do I fit in? That can be a tricky conversation to have and a tricky story to tell when it is not voiced by the person that is being represented on the screen.”
