The Nets have zeroed in on their next head coach.

Brooklyn’s NBA franchise has their sights set on Kings assistant coach Jordi Fernandez as their next head coach, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported late Monday night.

The 41-year-old coach has been a “fast-rising coaching candidate” in the NBA over the past two years, ESPN reported, and he is expected to land the Nets gig.

Fernandez had been among a group of finalists for the job, along with former Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer and Suns associate head coach Kevin Young, according to reports over the weekend.

The Kings’ assistant coach will be the latest hire under general manager Sean Marks as the franchise continues to reset after the superstar era came to an abrupt end during the 2022-23 season with the departures of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.

Fernandez has spent time coaching in Denver for six seasons and in Cleveland before landing in Sacramento in 2022.

He was also running the bench for Canada during the 2023 FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup where the Canadians earned bronze in the tournament.

Fernandez had been in the running for jobs with the Raptors, Suns and Bucks last season.

He’d be taking over a Nets team that finished 32-50 last season after it replaced Jacque Vaughn during the middle of the year with interim head coach Kevin Ollie.

It was the fifth coach the team has had dating back to 2020.

The Nets do boast a roster with Mikhal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Nic Claxton and Cam Thomas.
