MuseScore is one of the leading softwares for writing music & it is available for free. The software is available for Windows, macOS and Linux. The MuseScore app is used for creating scores. A score can be linked to a YouTube video for its tutorial or as a reference. The MuseScore notation software is required to edit or create music scores. With the software, users can view and print any music score from the company’s website, with no requirement of any third party plugin.

The company also released the mobile app for MuseCore & it gives the user the ability to play scores, change transposition and more. But, it cannot be used for creating or editing scores. The app is available on iOS, Android and Kindle Fire. MuseScore is an open source program and has a very simple user interface. The entire program is written on C++ language. Google with its Summer of Code program has sponsered students to help developing the code for MuseScore in the past.

The company recently released version 3.6 for the MuseScore app. Two of the most significant additions in the new update are, Leland the new notation font and a new fypeface font called Edwin.

Edwin is based on the New Century Schoolbook and is used by some of the top publishers in the world. A new vertical layout system has also been introduced to vertically arrange your sheets and save hours of time spent on vertical spacers and manual adjustment.

Now, with the new update instruments will be automatically organised on the basis of orchestral, marching band etc Also, now the newly created scores will be  bracketed by default. Old fonts like Emmentaler and Bravura have also got visual improvements with the new update. The exporting process has also been made easier and faster with new features for saving time.
