Kevin Feige has considered making ‘X-Men ’97‘ into the MCU’s Sacred Timeline, as confirmed by Emi Yonemura, who directed Episodes 3 and 5 of ‘X-Men ’97’ season 1.

Speaking to Inverse, Yonemura says Marvel seriously considered making the ‘X-Men ’97’ series canon.
Yonemura said, “It’s actually gone back and forth quite a few times, and I think we did land in a smart place because [X-Men: The Animated Series] was its own thing, and I think that to continue it we needed to be our own thing.”

‘X-Men ’97’ comes at a key time for the MCU. With the X-Men blending into films like ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘ and ‘The Marvels,’ director Jake Castorena finds the break from tradition thrilling.
Castorena said, “We’re getting the X-Men in this format and we’re doing it justice not just by ourselves, but also other fans as well, and we’re starting to get a resurgence of the X-Men in film again.” Castorena added, “I love that. And I think it’s great that we can have different things, let them be different.”
The live-action ‘X-Men’ movie is already in development, with filming set to begin in Q4 2025. Recently, Production Weekly revealed the synopsis: “Charles Xavier’s team of merry mutants is charged with the mission of protecting a world that hates and fears them for their unusual appearances and abilities.”
‘X-Men ’97’ is now streaming on Disney+.
