Kenny Pickett hits 76ers game with fiancée after wild draft night

Kenny Pickett seems to be enjoying himself after a wild 2022 NFL Draft experience.

The Steelers’ rookie quarterback ventured to Philadelphia on Sunday night with fiancée Amy Paternoster, where they watched the 76ers defeat the Miami Heat, 116-108, in Game 4 of their first-round series.

Pickett, 23, posted a video of Paternoster to his Instagram Story as she smiled inside the Wells Fargo Center.

It’s been a dizzying few weeks for Pickett, who was selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Though the Steelers grabbed the former University of Pittsburgh product with the 20th overall pick, the night wasn’t without some on-camera drama.

Shortly before the Steelers submitted their pick, ESPN cameras panned to the quarterback’s draft-day party, where he and guests — including Paternoster — appeared to be in a somber mood. Moments later, however, the future Mrs. could hardly contain her excitement after Pickett got the call he had been waiting for.

“Words cannot describe how proud I am of you, nor how happy I am to see all of your dreams come true. There is nobody more deserving of this! I can’t wait to see all of the amazing things you have yet to accomplish. Let’s go home!!!” Paternoster gushed in an Instagram tribute late last month.

Though Steelers coach Mike Tomlin believes Pickett “has a chance” to start for the team in Week 1, not everyone appears to be buying into the quarterback. In fact, cornerback Richard Sherman recently expressed why he’s hesitant about Pickett.

“Do I think he’s the quarterback of the future? I don’t know. It’s hard for me to trust a quarterback who wears gloves all the time. It’s just different. It’s just different. I just, I have hard time with it,” Sherman said, according to CBS Sports.

Leading up to this year’s draft, Pickett was at the center of controversy regarding the size of his hands. Despite the apparent chatter, Pickett didn’t appear to break a sweat as he and Paternoster even joked about the drama on Instagram.

The couple has been engaged since January.
