Kenny Golladay: I was actually yelling at Jason Garrett during viral Giants outburst

Kenny Golladay said he was yelling at his offensive coordinator — not his quarterback — when NFL Network cameras caught the receiver screaming at the Giants bench in the direction of Daniel Jones and Jason Garrett during Thursday’s loss.

And Golladay says it’s out of character.

“Pretty much just me talking to J.G. a little bit,” Golladay explained Monday. “That’s two competitive guys right there, and more so just wanting to do anything I can. Not so much ‘get me the ball more,’ though.”

There was confusion in the immediate aftermath of the loss to Washington, when it looked like Golladay was unloading on Jones because Garrett initially could not be seen on camera.

Jones and Sterling Shepard said after the game that the narrative building around Jones and Golladay was incorrect.

“I’ve never done nothing like that,” Golladay said. “Really, just being passionate and being a competitor. I would love to do anything I can to help the team and I let the emotions get the best of me.”

The Giants suspended receiver Golden Tate for a week last season after he was caught screaming “Throw me the damn ball” during a game. This is different in the eyes of coach Joe Judge.

“There was no argument on the sideline,” Judge said. “There was no [Golladay] versus Daniel or anything of that nature. In the heat of the moment, you speak very passionately. You kind of speak with some emotion. I speak with emotion on the sideline. There was no blow-up or anything that has to be made of it. I understand sometimes the perceptions will be what they are, but there’s no issue there.”
