The first member of the Jets rookie class is under contract.
Linebacker Jamien Sherwood, a fifth-round selection from Auburn, is signing his contract on Wednesday, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus.
Rookie deals are slotted based on where a player is drafted. Sherwood’s contract should be four years, $3.8 million based on where he was taken.

The 6-foot-2, 216-pounder had 75 tackles (three for a loss), one sack, three pass breakups, one quarterback hit and one fumble recovery in 2020.
Sherwood is the first member of the Jets’ 10-person draft class to sign. He is the first player of the 259 drafted in the NFL known to be under contract already.
