A thief in India made it easier for the authorities to apprehend him by taking a meal break in the middle of a burglary.

The police in the northeastern state of Assam's capital city Guwahati nabbed the suspect Tuesday during a break-in when the man paused to prepare "khichdi," a quick dish made by cooking rice and lentils together, NDTV reported.

The Assam police took to their Twitter handle to detail the bizarre incident.

"The curious case of a cereal burglar!" deputies wrote in the description of the post. "Despite its many health benefits, turns out, cooking Khichdi during a burglary attempt can be injurious to your well-being."

"The burglar has been arrested and Guwahati Police is serving him some hot meals," officials wrote in the post.
