How to get Vespiquen in Pokemon Go (2024)

Over the past years, a lot of AR mobile games have been released, but none could emulate the success of Niantic’s Pokemon Go. While it itself isn’t as popular as it used to be back when it was released in 2016, the game still is Niantic’s top-most title, raking in millions in revenue each month. Devs also continue to add new Pokemon and events for players to enjoy, helping the game attract and retain players. While there’s a lot of Pokemon to catch and get in Pokemon Go, recently it looks like Vespiquen has become quite the popular choice for many.

The reason behind this sudden rise in Vespiquen’s popularity is because of the ongoing Bug Out 2024 event. The event started on April 12 and is scheduled to end on April 17. Introduced in Generation IV, Vespiquen is a Bug and Flying-type Pokemon, perfect for an event focused on Bug types. So, how can you get it in Pokemon Go? Well, let’s go ahead and find out.

You can’t catch a Vespiquen directly in Pokemon Go. Rather you will have to catch its base form, a Combee, and then evolve it to a Vespiquen. But there’s more. You also can’t just catch a random Combee to evolve it into a Vespiquen. To be more specific, what you need is a female Combee. Catch one and you will be able to evolve her into a Vespiquen. So, let’s start with how you can catch a female Combee.

Catching a female Combee

There’s a very easy way to identify a female Combee. Unlike their male counterparts, all female Combee have a dark-orange reverse triangle at the center of their three heads. Since a female Combee is much rarer than a male one, you will have to rely a lot on both luck and persistence. But there’s something that can help you catch a female Combee faster. And yes, we are indeed talking about using incense.

Players can purchase one incense from the in-game store for about 40 coins. There’s also a bundle of eight incense, which is available for 250 coins. Note that during the ongoing Bug Out 2024 event, the incense will be shown as orange instead of its standard green color. Now, once you have gotten hold of an incense, you can activate it, following which a pink mist will surround your player character. From now on, a new Pokemon will spawn with each passing minute. Or when you hit 200 meters. If you don’t walk and just remain still in a place, then the Pokemon spawn rate will be one every five minutes. An incense only lasts for an hour so make sure to do your best to catch a female Combee.

Evolving a female Combee to Vespiquen

Once you have caught a female Combee, you will be able to evolve it into a Vespiquen. However, you can’t just do that for free. In order to evolve a female Combee into a Vespiquen, you will need to feed it 50 Combee Candies. And to get those candies, you should walk with your Combee. It will find a Combee Candy once every 3km. To make this even easier for you, we recommend feeding your Combee Pinap Berries, which makes Pokemon drop more Candy.

When you have gathered 50 Combee Candies, select your female Combee and use the 50 candies to evolve it into a Vespiquen. By the way, the current Bug Out 2024 event is also great for catching Shiny Combee, which you can further evolve to a Shiny Vespiquen.
