Heat fans at wedding go nuts thinking they won before Derrick White reality sinks in

Just 0.1 seconds was all that separated one wedding from the celebration of a lifetime getting that much sweeter.

While the party was in full force, the Heat just went up, 103-102, on the Celtics in Game 6 with three seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

The wedding reception attendees chanted “defense” while watching the game on a smartphone, and they went absolutely wild as Marcus Smart hoisted a 3-pointer from the left wing that went in and out, according to a TikTok video capturing the scene.

Another man broke out his Miami Heat flag and began running around on the dance floor with it, as if to claim victory, as someone else sprinted behind him.

The bride is also shown with a full-size Miami Heat flag onstage, as well, and others jumped around next to a phone — sitting on the table — that played the game.

“We thought we won …..,” the TikTok’s caption stated.

But they forgot to account for what happened after Smart’s 3-pointer bounced off the rim.

Derrick White, who inbounded the ball, tore toward the basket and tipped in the rebound as time expired, allowing the Celtics to emerge with a 104-103 victory.

The celebration was too soon, and the Boston Celtics forced a Game 7 thanks to the incredible timing of White’s layup at the end of regulation.

To be fair, the partygoers were not the only ones who were fooled by White’s incredible put-back attempt.

Even TNT commentators Kevin Harlan and Reggie Miller didn’t believe that White got the shot off before the buzzer sounded.

But a replay confirmed the improbable finish, and the Celtics will try to become the first team to trail an NBA playoff series 3-0 and still advance.

Game 7 will be on Monday at 8:30 p.m., with the Heat and their fans still trying to understand how such a commanding series lead — and such a late lead Saturday — slipped away.
