Garth Brooks brings twang to ‘Amazing Grace’ at Inauguration 2021

Garth Brooks brought some twang to the presidential transition on Wednesday.

The country music singer, a registered Republican, sang a soulful “Amazing Grace” at the inauguration, following the swearing-in of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Wearing denim and a blazer, he asked the crowd to join him in the last verse.

His musical act was one of dozens scattered throughout the ceremony. Lady Gaga performed the national anthem, while Jennifer Lopez belted out a mashup of “This Land Is Your Land,” “America the Beautiful” and her iconic hit “Let’s Get Loud.”

Brooks, 58, said earlier this week that he would be honored to bring his country-music talents to the day’s events, even though he’s not a Democrat like the new president.

“This is a great day in our household,” Brooks said in announcing his participation. “In our household, this is not a political statement; this is a statement of unity.”

The “Friends in Low Places” singer also performed at President Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2009.
