If there is one position the Jets feel pretty set at it is on the defensive line. It would be surprising if the Jets take any defensive linemen before the sixth round when you get into just adding the best depth players.
The Jets do not have many roster strengths to list, but defensive line is one of them. Led by Quinnen Williams, who emerged last year as a very good player, this unit is strong. GM Joe Douglas added to this group with the signing of Sheldon Rankins to play alongside Williams. If Rankins can regain his 2018 pre-injury form, the Jets will be tough up front. They also have Folorunso Fatukasi and John Franklin-Myers to line up on the interior.
We know defensive line is close to coach Robert Saleh’s heart. The 49ers were loaded on the D-line during his time there, and he thrived last season even after losing some of his top defensive linemen. With that in mind, the Jets could draft a defensive lineman late in the draft to give Saleh more depth at the position and a developmental player. But this is one of the only positions that is not on the Jets’ to-do list in this draft.
