Dayton hits wild buzzer beater to upset No. 4 Kansas

Black Friday produced a wild upset in college basketball season.

Dayton had lost games to Lowell, Austin Peay and Lipscomb this season, but upset No. 4 Kansas on Friday on a crazy buzzer beater.

Down 73-72, Dayton’s Malachi Smith drove to the bucket, and got blocked by David McCormack. Mustapha Amzil grabbed the rebound and hoisted up a prayer that bounced off the rim and backboard and trickled in.

Dayton had been down as much as 15 points in the game, and trailed by 10 early in the second half.

This was the first time the Flyers defeated an AP top-5 time since they beat DePaul in 1984.
