Brandon Nimmo removed himself in the bottom of the first inning of Wednesday’s game before, he said, he allowed “something worse” to happen to his quad.
It appears he was successful.
The Mets center fielder underwent an MRI on his left quad on Thursday that came back clean, the team said. Nimmo is day-to-day.

Nimmo, an above-average center fielder with a .778 OPS as the everyday leadoff hitter, has been invaluable to the Mets, who already have been playing without outfielder Starling Marte for two weeks.
“We felt like this could be just a few-days kind of thing rather than weeks,” Nimmo said after the game. “I know if I catch things early, I heal really fast.”
