Northwestern-UConn pick
The Round of 32 continues in the Midwest region tonight in Brooklyn when the No. 1 seed UConn Huskies take on the No. 9 seed Northwestern Wildcats.
BetMGM Sportsbook is favoring UConn by 14.5 points, which makes sense given the dominance of the Huskies. Still, that spread is a little too big so I’ll roll with the over on 135.5 total points.
For one, I just don’t think this is that big of a number, and there’s enough skill on the floor to push it over. Tristen Newton and Boo Buie are two really good point guards that will get good shots for their offense, whether it comes from themselves or their teammates.
UConn’s overall talent should help this be a higher-scoring game as well. All five of UConn’s starters score in double digits and they do it efficiently because four of the five shoot at least 46% from the floor. Bettors could have some concern that Northwestern’s defense mucks up the pace of this game, but the Huskies are too good to let anyone else dictate the pace of a game so I wouldn’t worry about that.
