Best Manor Lords Steam Deck Settings for High FPS & performance

Steam’s most wish-listed game – Manor Lords, is just about to release in a few days. Developed by solo developer – Slavic Magic, Manor Lords will be released as an early access title on April 26, 2024, for PC. Early previews have been out for some time, and so far there’s nothing but incredible praise for it. And since Manor Lords is heading to PC first, a lot of Steam Deck users also want to know the best possible Steam Deck settings for it.

One thing to note here is that Manor Lords will not be officially supported for the Steam Deck at the time of its early access release. Despite that, Valve has categorized Manor Lords as Playable for the Deck. And looking at some Steam Deck videos and reviews, it seems to be true. So, what are the best settings for Manor Lords on the Steam Deck to get high fps and performance? Well, let’s go ahead and find out.

Before checking out the Steam Deck settings, we recommend that you update your SteamOS if you haven’t already. Furthermore, we also suggest that you download and install CryoUtilities on your Deck, which can help you get some more performance out of it.

Once you are done with that, launch Manor Lords on your Steam Deck and click on Settings. Now, switch to the Graphics section and set the game’s settings as shown below:

  • Display mode: Fullscreen

  • Resolution: 1280×720

  • Antialiasing: FSR

  • FSR Quality: Balance

  • VSync: Off

  • Max framerate: Unlimited

  • Sharpening: Off

  • Shader quality: Low

  • Shadow quality: Medium

  • Postprocess quality: Ultra

  • Bounced light approximation: Ultra

  • Volumetric clouds: On

  • Terrain texture resolution: High

  • View distance: High

  • Grass density: High

  • Grass distance: Medium

  • Foliage quality: Medium

Running the game on these settings should allow you to play it at a stable 40–45 fps while you are city-building. However, at other times, like in battles or when you zoom the camera, you will see fps dips, but even that should seldom drop the fps below 30. You can also try the following Medium Settings build, which will allow you to enjoy the game at above 35fps most of the time.

  • Display mode: Fullscreen

  • Resolution: 1280×720

  • Anti-aliasing: FSR

  • FSR Quality: Balance

  • VSync: Off

  • Max framerate: 175

  • Sharpening: Off

  • Shader quality: Medium

  • Shadow quality: Medium

  • Postprocess quality: Medium

  • Bounced light approximation: Medium

  • Volumetric clouds: On

  • Terrain texture resolution: Medium

  • View distance: Medium

  • Grass density: Medium

  • Grass distance: Medium

  • Foliage quality: Medium

For a new 60fps play session, you can try the following Low Settings build. However, know that you will be sacrificing graphics for performance since you will be running the game on low.

  • Display mode: Fullscreen

  • Resolution: 1280×720

  • Antialiasing: FSR

  • FSR Quality: Balance

  • VSync: Off

  • Max framerate: 175

  • Sharpening: Off

  • Shader quality: Low

  • Shadow quality: Low

  • Postprocess quality: Off

  • Bounced light approximation: Off

  • Volumetric clouds: On

  • Terrain texture resolution: Low

  • View distance: Low

  • Grass density: Low

  • Grass distance: Low

  • Foliage quality: Low

The performance in this Low Settings build will be quite good, with fps staying above 50–55 almost all the time and some fps dips here and there. The game wouldn’t look great, though. Expect to see a lot of light green on your screen, along with low-texture homes and such. And at last, the following 1080p build will give you 1080p graphics on the Steam Deck, at the cost of performance.

  • Display mode: Fullscreen

  • Resolution: 1920×1080

  • Antialiasing: FSR

  • FSR Quality: Balance

  • VSync: Off

  • Max framerate: 175

  • Sharpening: Off

  • Shader quality: Low

  • Shadow quality: Low

  • Postprocess quality: Off

  • Bounced light approximation: Off

  • Volumetric clouds: On

  • Terrain texture resolution: Low

  • View distance: Low

  • Grass density: Low

  • Grass distance: Low

  • Foliage quality: Low

The aforementioned build will allow you to enjoy the game above 30–40 fps at almost all times. Considering that Manor Lords isn’t officially supported for the Steam Deck, it’s great to see that the game runs just fine on the Deck. Also, one thing you need to remember is that Manor Lords eats the Steam Deck’s battery like a hog. If you want to play the game for somewhat longer, stick with the low settings build, but if you don’t care about battery, then stick with other builds.
