Although “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” Season 12 ended with NeNe Leakes questioning whether she would return to the cast for another season, it appears actress Mo’Nique wanted to shut down rumors alleging that she would be placing the reality star.
Following the explosive “RHOA” Season 12 reunion where NeNe abruptly left the virtual gathering, she has not confirmed her future on the Bravo series.
On Wednesday, Mo’Nique took some time out of her Instagram cooking video to answer fans who have asked her about an alleged source that claimed she would be appearing on the reality series.
“I am not doing ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta,’ and in my humble opinion, Nene Leakes is irreplaceable. NeNe Leakes is ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ if you ask me, baby. That’s been 13 years, so no, I am not joining that cast, no. I respect all of those sisters. They do what they do,” she replied.
Mo’Nique claimed that she couldn’t see herself on the show because of the nasty feuds that typically happen between cast members.
“Y’all know my spirit couldn’t take it! I couldn’t do those confessions, talking about my sisters like that, so no my babies. I don’t know where that information came from,” the actress said.
The 52-year-old noted that she felt obligated to address the rumors because she recently saw NeNe and her husband, Gregg Leakes. The actress went on to reveal that the rumors regarding her appearance on the “RHOA” is “a total fabrication.”
In May, Nene joined “Basketball Wives” star Jennifer Williams for an Instagram Live session where she revealed she was in therapy following the events that happened on the Season 12 reunion. “I’m seeing a therapist,” she admitted.
“I’ve had a phone call with the therapist. We haven’t seen each other in person because we can’t, because of quarantine. But, I felt very traumatized. I think, a lot of times, people see the tough exterior, and they don’t really know that you hurt inside sometimes like everybody else.”
As of Thursday afternoon, NeNe has not addressed rumors alleging that Mo’Nique would be replacing her on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
