The family of a 2-year-old boy, who went missing last week in Las Vegas, is seeking the help of the public to find the child.
The toddler has been identified as Amari Nicholson. The Las Vegas police said the boy was last seen Wednesday at the Emerald Suites, 3684 Paradise Road, near East Twain Avenue. On Monday, volunteers distributed flyers in the area where the boy disappeared as the relatives requested the public to come forward with any information leading to the whereabouts of the child. Volunteers with Nevada Child Seekers were involved in the search.
“We don’t have any leads,” said Amari’s paternal aunt, Yolanda Everett, of California, told Review Journal. “It’s been five days now. The police are doing everything they can do. We are doing everything we can do.”
Everett said the child was in the care of his mother’s boyfriend at the Emerald Suites while Amari’s mother, Tayler Nicholson, was out of state in Colorado. A woman showed up at the apartment the couple shared and claimed to be Amari's paternal family member, the boyfriend told the police. She said she was there to pick up the child.
“He said he’d never seen the woman,” Everett said of the boyfriend’s account. “He just said she was related to my brother and that she took Amari from this complex, ran down the stairs, and we haven’t seen him since.”
One of the boy’s paternal aunts has offered a $30,000 reward for information in the case, WMBF News reported.
“Amari needs you to be his voice right now. He needs you to come out here and hand out these flyers whether you’re in Henderson or Summerlin or Anthem,” searcher Margarita Edwards told the public during the search operation. “We’re going to keep looking. We’re going to keep searching. We just need more people. If this was your child, you’d want everybody searching, so we need you to help us."
The police said the child may possibly be in danger and anyone with information must call authorities at (702) 828-3111 or Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555. The police have not named any suspects in the case.
