Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was made on a heavy budget, which is close to that of the Avengers movies, but the film actually made an ant-sized profit of around $88K for Disney.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was released on February 17, 2023, as the first film in Phase Five of the MCU, grossing $476.1 million worldwide. According to Forbes, studios typically retain about 50% of box office earnings, meaning Disney received approximately $238.05 million. Disney’s earnings were $92.05 million less than its net spending on producing the movie. The cost of the movie is factual and comes directly from Disney’s financial filings, indicating a level of transparency rather than an attempt to obscure spending.

The film stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, alongside Jonathan Majors, Kathryn Newton, David Dastmalchian, Katy O’Brian, William Jackson Harper, Bill Murray, Michelle Pfeiffer, Corey Stoll, and Michael Douglas.

In the film, which officially kicks off phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Super-Hero partners Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp.
