A man in Dakota County, Minnesota, was charged last week after he allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl he met at a park and bragged about the incident on social media, court documents showed.
Apple Valley resident Brandon Glenn Corbett, 18, was charged in Dakota County District Court Thursday with one count of criminal sexual conduct in the third degree, local newspaper St. Paul Pioneer Press first reported, citing a criminal complaint.
According to the complaint, police started investigating an online account after a witness saw a photo of Corbett and the unnamed victim on the social media platform Snapchat.
Corbett allegedly grabbed the girl in a sexual manner, and the latter appeared surprised by the contact, the documents cited the witness as telling police.
Police were then able to identify the girl through social media. She admitted to authorities that she went to Corbett's house but said she ignored his advances for sexual intercourse.
The victim, however, alleged that Corbett became forceful with her and insisted on having sex. She told police she did what Corbett wanted because she was scared, according to the criminal complaint.
The witness told police Corbett later bragged about the alleged rape on social media.
Corbett is scheduled to appear before court again on Sept. 15.
In similar news, federal authorities arrested a man and his adult son over a week ago after they allegedly discussed on social media their involvement in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol in Washington, D.C. FBI agents, in two separate arrests on June 11, apprehended 50-year-old Daryl Johnson, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, and 29-year-old Daniel Johnson, of Austin Minnesota.
According to an affidavit, the younger Johnson was quoted as messaging a Facebook contact, "We stormed capitol hill."
"lol Dad and I were one of the first ones inside," one of his messages allegedly read.
Both made their initial appearances in their respective state courts in Iowa and Minnesota before being released from custody pending further proceedings in Washington, D.C.
They were charged with entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly and disruptive conduct, violent entry and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building.
