KEY POINTS

  • Mama June held a meet and greet with fans in West Point, Georgia, together with her husband Justin Stroud
  • The reality star’s daughters are currently busy with their summer tour without her
  • Mama June said she was raising funds for charity through her meet and greet with fans

Mama June Shannon held a meet and greet for her fans while her daughters Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson and Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, along with the rest of the family, are busy with their summer tour.

Over the weekend, the 42-year-old reality star held a fan event at Purge Nation in West Point, Georgia. Based on her post before Saturday’s gathering, the meet and greet was set to run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the restaurant, and there would be autographs and merch for the attendees.

Shannon showed up at the restaurant Saturday with her 34-year-old husband Justin Stroud, and she enthusiastically addressed the fans before the event started, Valley Times-News reported.

The reception to Mama June’s meet and greet was mixed, with some attendees saying the controversial matriarch has been misunderstood by many. Others voiced their disappointment with her for abandoning her children, the news outlet said.

During the event, aside from interacting with fans, Shannon sold merchandise, signatures and even photos to the attendees. She said all the money raised would go to a good cause.

Though she did not reveal who would receive the funds, she maintained that the money would help people in need and even asked her supporters to send in stories of those who may need financial support.

Mama June’s surprise meet and greet comes amid her family’s ongoing summer tour without her. Honey Boo Boo, 16, previously unveiled the poster for her meet and greet in Atlanta, Georgia, on Aug. 14 with Pumpkin, 22, and her husband Josh Efird, 26, and their kids Ella Grace, 4, Bentely Jameson, 1, and newborn twins Stella Renae and Sylus Rae.

Also joining their second tour stop are Mama June’s sister Doe Doe Shannon, 56, Alana’s boyfriend Dralin Carswell, 21, and her other sister Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, 25.

Unlike Mama June, her family is not doing their summer tour for charity. Attendees need to purchase tickets to join the event where they will get to enjoy “live music, autographs and photos” with the TV stars.

The separate fan events took place after “Mama June: Road to Redemption” ended its sixth season last month.
