The 2021 Mets ESPN “30 for 30” might end up being released before the 1986 one comes out. In fewer than six weeks, the Mets season thus far has had an abundance of storylines with the “ratcoon” being the latest added to the list. Whatever happened in that tunnel Friday in the dugout luckily didn’t affect the team in a negative way, at all. In fact, Francisco Lindor would end up hitting his first Citi Field homer, a clutch game-tying blast, just minutes after the incident.

A sweep later and the Mets are 16-13, winners of five straight and in first place in the NL East. There’s a lot to get into and we got it all covered on the latest episode of the “Amazin’ But True” podcast with former Mets pitcher Nelson Figueroa and me, featuring the second half of our interview with Mets great Howard Johnson.

Amazin’ But True Podcast with Jake & Figgie:

  • WILD WEEKEND AT CITI: Mazeika magic had me losing voice Friday. What happened with the rat-raccoon saga? Did Lindor and McNeil throw hands? Sparked the Mets Friday and the entire weekend. Bullpen has been one of the best in baseball. Starting pitching has been solid. Pitching has carried the Mets for most of the season.
  • LINDOR/DEGROM/HARVEY: Lindor looks like his bat is back. Friday’s homer led to a great weekend at the plate. His average has gone up nearly 40 points since Thursday. Will deGrom be ok? What happened Sunday? What kind of ovation should Matt Harvey get from fans at Citi Field Wednesday?
