Kathy Griffin has revealed that she has undergone vocal cord surgery amid her battle with lung cancer.
Griffin, 62, posted to TikTok Wednesday documenting the successful procedure that helped the recovery of her voice — and even used video from the camera that the doctor used to see her vocal cords.
The comedian and actress shared from her recovery bed that the surgery was necessary “because I want to be ready for my big Vegas show on June 17.”
“This is just part of my recovery post-lung cancer journey. I’m cancer-free,” Griffin said.
She also gave a shoutout to her “really kickass female voice surgeon,” Dr. Barbu.
Griffin first shared that she was diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2021 and revealed in November of that same year that she was cancer-free.

“To be honest, this cancer surgery was a little more than I had anticipated,” Griffin admitted in an Instagram post in August 2021. “Tonight will be my first night without any narcotic painkillers. Hello Tylenol, my new best friend!”
She added that the last time she was in the hospital prior to this was June 2020 when she overdosed on prescription pills and tried to take her own life.

I fear drugs and addiction more than I fear cancer. So, I think I’ll be OK.”
In April, Griffin shared on her TikTok about a different diagnosis she was diagnosed with, complex PTSD.
“You can laugh or whatever, but I’ve been diagnosed with complex PTSD, and it’s called an extreme case,” she revealed on TikTok.

Griffin is set to perform at the Mirage Theater in Las Vegas on June 17 as a follow-up to her “Laugh Your Head Off” world tour.
