Jalen Kitna dismissed by Florida football team after child porn arrest

Jalen Kitna was freed on bond and will return home, but he won’t be back with the Florida Gators.

The 19-year-old quarterback, currently facing five felony child pornography charges, was dismissed from the Gators on Friday, according to multiple reports.

Kitna was arrested earlier this week after police were tipped off that he shared two images to a Discord chat, one of an adult male engaged in sex with a prepubescent female. Police found more images at his home.

Kitna was released from jail on $80,000 bond on Thursday after his father, former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna, testified on his behalf in court. Jon and wife Jennifer promised their son would return to their Burleson, Tex. home and return for all his court dates.

As a condition of his release, Kitna is not to have any supervised contact with minors or access to the internet.

He faces two counts of distribution of child exploitation material and three counts of possession of child pornography. The distribution charges need to be formalized, but carry prison terms of up to 15 years and fines of up to $10,000.

Kitna appeared in four games for the Gators this season. the redshirt freshman completed 10 of 14 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown.
