Jaguars’ Rayshawn Jenkins thinks Travis Kelce is ‘too extra’ after chippy game

There seems to be some bad blood between Jaguars safety Rayshawn Jenkins and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Speaking to reporters Sunday after Jacksonville’s 17-9 loss to the reigning Super Bowl champs, Jenkins was asked how the team handled Kelce and responded with a swipe at the Pro Bowler’s persona amid a tense contest.

“Of course, he’s a good player, but he’s a little too extra at times,” Jenkins said, according to News4JAX.

“He gets to disrespecting, he feel like he above people, and we all men out there, let’s just play the game.”

Kelce, who made his regular-season debut Sunday after sitting out Week 1 with a knee injury, was held to four receptions for 26 yards and one touchdown.

Shortly before the two-minute warning in the second half, Kelce and Jenkins were both called for unnecessary roughness penalties.

Kelce also appeared to exchange words with Jaguars linebacker Foyesade Oluokun postgame, which led to some of his Chiefs teammates — including star quarterback Patrick Mahomes — “playing peace maker,” according to Fox 4 Kansas City’s Harold Kuntz.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid addressed Kelce’s frustrations Monday.

“Travis was fighting Travis. It was hot, he was getting ‘butched,’ we call it, where they try to bang you up one way or another, and he’s trying to get back in the flow. He’s a perfectionist, this guy,” Reid said, according to the Arrowhead Report.

It’s been a rollercoaster of a season so far for Kelce.

He was held out of the Chiefs’ season-opening loss to the Lions on Sept. 7 as he dealt with a bone bruise.

Off the field, Kelce’s love life has captivated headlines after a report from The Messenger linked him to pop superstar Taylor Swift.

CBS announcer Ian Eagle added to the dating speculation Sunday when he referenced Swift’s 2014 single, “Blank Space,” while commentating on Kelce’s touchdown in the Jaguars game.
