Jets coach Robert Saleh stood up for general manager Joe Douglas this week and the team’s long-term plan to turn the franchise around.

It is hard to see progress in a 2-8 season in which the Jets have been non-competitive in five of those losses. But Saleh told fans this week that the Jets are doing things right.

“This is the first time this fan base is actually experiencing something like this,” Saleh said Monday. “Usually it’s been a quick fix, followed by a scramble. This is an actual plan. I feel like Joe (Douglas) is doing a phenomenal job with a really, really concise plan on how to build from the ground up and there’s a lot of exciting pieces on this team that are hidden in these losses.”
