It’s a waiting game to see if Brian Daboll had his Giants finale

ARLINGTON, Texas — Was this it for Brian Daboll?

Does he get to remain in his job and continue as head coach of the Giants, at least for now?

There was a disturbance in the force around the Giants this week, with a swirl in the air that Daboll might not make it past this weekend if his team on Thanksgiving got blown out in much the manner it did last Sunday in losing 30-7 to the Buccaneers. Yes, co-owner John Mara said not that long ago that he was not going to make any change with Daboll or general manager Joe Schoen during this season. That was then. In the here and now, ownership was not going to take kindly to seeing the Giants get embarrassed again, this time on national television by a despised NFC East rival that is in the midst of its own lousy season.

Well, it took just a bit longer this time around for the Giants to fall out of contention in a game against the worst version of the Cowboys in many years. The Giants actually held a lead for a short while. They trailed by only 13-10 at halftime, but then they remembered who they are and were dominated. In the end, they went down fairly meekly, losing 27-20. It was not as close as that — they were down 27-10 when Drew Lock ran for a touchdown with 2:18 remaining. It was the seventh consecutive loss for Daboll and the Giants (2-10), and as it stands right now, they own the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
