Giants prospect Roy Mbaeteka discovered football just four years ago in Nigeria — now he’s trying to make NFL history

He is a giant, but that he is a Giant is practically unfathomable, given where he hails from, how he got here and how limited his immersion into football has been.

Roy Mbaeteka stands 6-foot-9 and weighs 320 pounds, despite only dallancies in advanced nutrition and strength training for most of his 22 years. When he was 18, Mbaeteka, who was born and raised in Nigeria, knew nothing of shoulder pads and the life of an offensive lineman. That he reported last week for his first NFL training camp is a reality equal parts absurd and invigorating.

And, considering how far behind he is the experiences of most NFL players, a reality that could be intimidating to many, but not to him.

“I never think about it,” Mbaeteka told The Post. “I feel if it’s a sport and it’s something you enjoy, you can learn. Nobody was born with football ingrained in their mind. It’s something you learn over time. If they can learn, I can learn.”
