The trailer of "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" was released Tuesday and fans couldn't stop praising it on social media.
The movie's official Twitter handle dropped the trailer and wrote in the caption, "He came out here for a reason. Watch the new trailer for #Ghostbusters: Afterlife, exclusively in movie theaters this November."
The post was quick to draw reactions from fans who couldn't contain their excitement after seeing the trailer.
One of the fans wrote that the movie is "one of the most cynically-conceived, written, and marketed films in recent memory" and further mocked how others promote the trailer, saying, "Every trailer makes it look worse. "HERE'S THAT NOSTALGIA YOU ORDERED!" I don't WANT nostalgia. Give me a good, new GB story if you CAN'T let the franchise be."
Another fan noted, "Going to be interesting, but not overly much a fan of teen movies - as in school children end up with items they aren't old enough to be responsible for. Also I guess you show the PS5 at the end because it is a ghost of a console?"
Fans also took to the comments section of the official YouTube channel of "Ghostbusters" to express their appreciation for the trailer.
A fan wrote, "I don't like to get my hopes up, but so far this looks really promising!"
Meanwhile, another user commented, "This looks fine, I truly hope this time they will make a proper sequel. I have been a Ghostbusters fan since I was 6yo. 2016 movie was just a huge disappointment."
The highly anticipated "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" roped in the original cast members to play the iconic roles from the 1989 version of the movie.
A reboot with the same title was released in 2016, but the original cast members didn't play the same characters. Because of this, the movie received backlash from the viewers.
The latest installment of the franchise was directed and co-written by Jason Reitman. Its cast members include Carrie Coon, who portrays Callie's character, while actor Finn Wolfhard plays the role of Trevor. Paul Rudd stars in the movie as Mr. Grooberson, who is a school teacher.
The movie's plot focuses on Egon Spengler's family that discovers a hidden lab at their family farm and at the same time, ghosts return. "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" was originally scheduled for a 2020 release. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is now set to hit the theaters on Nov. 11.
