Candace Cameron Bure is putting Christ back in Christmas.
The “Full House” star revealed her preference for the Great American Family network’s values and discussed her move to the Tennessee-based company after years with the Hallmark Channel.
“My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them,” Bure explained. “I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.”
She believes Hallmark, for whom she starred on dozens of movies, “basically is a completely different network than when I started because of the change of leadership.”
Great American Family CEO Bill Abbott previously headed Crown Media, Hallmark’s parent company, before leaving in 2020.
Bure, who portrayed D.J. Tanner on the popular sitcom, told Variety in September “it didn’t work out with Hallmark” and “it just so happened that my contract was expiring when Great American Family started up.”

“I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core,” she asserted.
Abbott was less transparent with the network’s future decisions.
“It’s certainly the year 2022, so we’re aware of the trends,” he explained. “There’s no whiteboard that says, ‘Yes, this’ or ‘No, we’ll never go here.'”
