As the Jets pulled off a stunning 13-point comeback to beat the Browns on Sunday, one fan seemingly took out their frustrations on Cleveland owner Jimmy Haslam.
In the final moments of New York’s 31-30 win in Cleveland, Jeffrey Miller, 51, is accused of throwing a water bottle that hit Haslam as he exited the field near the players’ tunnel, according to ESPN. The moment was caught on video by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Miller was arrested Sunday on complaints of assault, failure to comply with a lawful order and disorderly conduct, according to the police report.
The Browns reportedly plan to ban the fan from First Energy Stadium. The team issued a statement saying it shared the footage with law enforcement.
“Fan, player and staff safety is the top priority in our building and behavior that puts others in danger will not be tolerated,” the Browns said in a statement. “Luckily no one was harmed in this incident and as a standard practice, we’ve cooperated with law enforcement authorities and security video footage of the object being thrown is in the appropriate hands. We will have no further comment on this matter.”

The Las Vegas Police Department has opened an investigation into the incident. According to ESPN, officer Larry Hadfield, a Las Vegas police spokesman, confirmed that a battery complaint — which said “a spectator at the stadium struck a professional football player” — was made around 6:30 p.m. at the stadium.
Hadfield said a suspect was not immediately identified and an investigation was ongoing, but Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury would love to see some consequences.
“I think that guy’s a lowlife, whoever did it, and I hope they arrest him, he gets fired and can never go to another game,’’ he told reporters on Monday.
