Did a simple selfie derail Corentin Moutet’s Australian Open campaign?

That’s what some appear to be speculating after the French athlete took a photo with a fan during his second-round match against American Sebastian Korda, according to News.com.au.

Moutet took the photo during the fifth set of his with Korda, who went on to defeat the Frenchman, 10-6, in a tiebreaker.

Following the match, some fans took to Twitter to weigh in on Moutet’s performance.

“Corentin doing corentin things,” one user remarked while another opined, “He is such a character! But he is also a dynamic player. Unfortunately he can’t always keep good s–t together. He is the perpetual underdog.”

Moutet’s second-round exit also cost him monetarily given those who qualify for the third round of the Australian Open, which runs through Jan. 30, can score a $221,000 paycheck, per News.com.au. He, however, is only expected to bank $154,000.

As for Korda, he will face Spain’s Pablo Carreño Busta in a third-round match Thursday.
