Conor McGregor’s first pitch wasn’t even close

It wasn’t exactly a punch-out.

UFC star Conor McGregor, no stranger to a different kind of strike zone, threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Wrigley Field on Tuesday, and the Irishman wasn’t anywhere close to Cubs infielder Patrick Wisdom’s waiting glove.

The throw sailed high and into the safety netting behind home plate.

It may not have been the worst ceremonial first pitch in baseball history, though it can easily be in the conversation among 50 Cent’s wide toss at Citi Field in 2014, Mariah Carey’s 2011 bouncer in Japan, or Dr. Anthony Fauci’s very outside throw to open the 2020 season.
