Can Tiger Woods Win The PGA Championship 2022? Odds Against Golfer At Major Tournament

Six weeks after making his return at the Masters, Tiger Woods is ready to compete at the next major tournament. The golf legend is in Tulsa, Oklahoma, looking to win the 2022 PGA Championship this week.

The odds are against Woods, just as they were when he made his comeback at Augusta. Woods is a long shot to win the 2022 PGA Championship with +6600 odds at BetMGM.

Twenty golfers are given a better chance than Woods to finish atop the PGA Championship leaderboard. Masters champion Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm are co-favorites with +1200 odds. Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas have +1400 odds. Eleven golfers have +2500 odds or better to win the year’s second major.

Woods finished 13-over-par for 47th place at the 2022 Masters. The 15-time major winner struggled after making the cut, shooting 12-over-par on the final two days of the tournament.

A few days before the start of the tournament, Woods appears optimistic about his chances of being able to sustain success at the PGA Championship.

“I’ve gotten a lot stronger since the Masters,” Woods said at Southern Hills Country Club, via Golfweek. “We went back to work on Tuesday (after the Masters). Monday was awful; I did nothing and Tuesday was leg day.

“So we went right back after it. Everything is better.”

Woods has won four PGA Championships. His last victory came in 2007 at Southern Hills.

If he somehow manages to finish atop the leaderboard, Woods wouldn’t be the oldest PGA Championship winner of all time. It was only a year ago that Phil Mickelson won the event at 50 years old.

“Hundred percent I see him stronger. I just think the endurance is there now,” caddie Joe LaCava told Golfweek. “I don’t think he’s getting quite as tired as quickly. I see more endurance more than anything.”

Woods has already committed to playing The Open Championship in July.
