The New York Football Giants are 2-0.

This new regime has made a statement. It’s only two games and neither has been the prettiest — but a win is a win is a win. After years of losing and ineptitude, Giants fans are ready to run through a brick wall after a 2-0 start, especially after winning a home opener.

Not many Giants-Cowboys matchups have been that important the last five years, but next Monday night at MetLife Stadium is a big early matchup in the NFC East. The prospect of going 3-0 with the Bears coming to East Rutherford has fans ready to salivate.

To recap the Giants’ 19-16 victory over the Panthers on Sunday, we bring you a new episode of the “Blue Rush” podcast with Lawrence Tynes, Paul Schwartz and Brandon London.

Blue Rush Podcast with Brandon London, Lawrence Tynes & Paul Schwartz:

  • CUE THE BAGPIPES: The Scotsman Graham Gano carried the Giants Sunday, making four field goals, including a 51-yard kick and a clutch 56-yard field goal. Gano has been sensational for the Giants. He is a great kicker. Big day for special teams, including rookie Dane Belton, who had a big fumble recovery on his first-ever NFL snap on the opening kickoff.
  • OFFENSIVE STRUGGLES: Daniel Jones did not have a ton to work with. He was working with third- and fourth-string wide receivers and a rookie tight end with no NFL catches. You saw gradual improvement and progression from them.
  • GOLLADAY/TONEY: If these two guys are mainstays, the Giants are in trouble. They need to get something from them. Golladay won’t be here after this season. They were not brought on the roster by current management.
  • STRONG DEFENSE: Xavier McKinney did a good job in the box covering Christian McCaffrey when he was a receiver. Oshane Ximines was disruptive and did a nice job. Adoree Jackson has looked like a No. 1 cornerback these first two games. The Panthers offense did not look good. Giants still are without two big playmakers in Azeez Ojulari and Kayvon Thibodeaux.
  • GIANTS-COWBOYS MNF: This sets up next Monday for a huge game at MetLife Stadium. The Giants have a chance to go 3-0 to start the season against Cooper Rush and the Cowboys. Energy was good for the home opener Sunday and it should be rocking next week. Giants fans should be pumped up.
