Baltimore Ravens' Odafe Oweh Wants To Be Immortalized For On-Field Efforts

KEY POINTS

  • Odafe Oweh is focused on producing a remarkable career with the Baltimore Ravens
  • Oweh smashed expectations with a strong performance in his rookie year
  • The Ravens made major draft selections that hope to fuel a Super Bowl run this season

The Baltimore Ravens have done everything in their power to improve their roster during the offseason as they look towards a hopeful Super Bowl run rather than their dismal performance last season.

Their greatest weapon in acquiring talent is not in free agency, but in the draft.

As a franchise, the Ravens have always put a premium on getting young, moldable talent through the draft instead of signing big-name free agents because they know the kind of players that they are looking for.

One of them is sophomore standout Odafe Oweh.

The Penn State product has quickly become a fan favorite in Baltimore thanks to his charming personality and output on the field.

Appearing on teammate Marlon Humphrey’s “Studio 44” podcast, Oweh was asked by the veteran cornerback on what he wants to be most remembered for after his playing years are over.

“He was a winner. Always got better every year. He was just a dog. That’s what I always want people to just realize: I work hard and that I’m a dog, and I’m going to win. Regardless of whatever odds you stack, regardless of what you say I can’t do I’m going to just win,” Oweh said.

“You know I’m going to find a way to win and I’m going to keep on getting better. You might be good right now, but I’m going to be better in the future.”

Oweh appeared in 15 games for the Ravens last season, tallying three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, five sacks, and 15 quarterback hits.

For a rookie linebacker drafted at 31st, Oweh was overlooked by most since he did not tally a single sack in his final season with Penn State.

However, Oweh has quickly proven that he belongs in the league and could be set for an even bigger season this time around.

The Ravens added highly-touted Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton and Iowa center Tyler Linderbaum with their first-round picks in this year’s edition of the draft.

Both players were deemed by observers as the best players at their positions and for the Ravens to take them within 11 picks of one another shows how well they know their personnel.

Oweh will have the pleasure of working alongside linebackers Patrick Queen, Josh Bynes and Tyus Bowser as they hope to carry the defense while quarterback Lamar Jackson guides the offense.

The Ravens have silently been working on developing their internal core and, just like Oweh, may be poised to have a successful season compared to last year’s injury-plagued run.
