Are the Jets a playoff team?

“I’m really expecting playoffs or bust,” Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley said recently. “…It’s something that’s a realistic goal for our entire team and our coaches.” Well, is it? After a acquiring upgrades such as Laken Tomlinson and C.J. Uzomah, and drafting first-rounders Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, and Jermaine Johnson II, the Jets look poised to make a leap from their 4-13 record in 2021. Their main issue? The conference is a beast, and the rest of the AFC East also got better. Josh Allen and the Bills are among the Super Bowl favorites, the Dolphins brought in Tyreek Hill as part of a splashy offseason, and Mac Jones appears to be the quarterback the Patriots hoped for. The Jets haven’t won a division game in two years — winning just half of those games last season would have boosted them to 7-10. If the Jets improve within the division, do they have a shot at the playoffs? Is it too soon for their young core to have success?
