Amanda Bynes skips ‘90s Con last-minute, Kel Mitchell ‘praying’ for her

Amanda Bynes was sorely missed at this weekend’s ’90s Con.

After previously being scheduled to appear at the nostalgia-filled convention, “The Amanda Show” alum, 36, dropped out due to an undisclosed illness.

The company behind the event, That’s4Entertainment, revealed the news on their Instagram Story on March 17, Connecticut Insider reported.

Bynes was set to reunite with her “All That” castmates Kel Mitchell, Danny Tamberelli, Lori Beth Denberg and Kenan Thompson.

The “Kenan and Kel” stars, both 44, shared a sweet message for Bynes regarding her absence.

“I’ve just been praying for her,” Mitchell told Entertainment Tonight at the convention.

“It’s awesome to see she’s doing better. Which is great. We’re just continuing to pray for her on her journey, and it’s answered prayers that she’s doing a lot better,” he added.

During the “All That” panel on March 18, Mitchell inquired the audience to “send a prayer” to Bynes to help her “feel better.”

The three-day bash brought back many casts from iconic ’90s productions in
Connecticut.

The event would have been the “What a Girl Wants” actress’s first public gig in years.

She told People in a statement in January: “I’m really excited to reunite with my castmates and meet the fans at ’90s Con.”

Bynes got her start in Hollywood in 1996 while starring in the Nickelodeon comedy sketch series and later scored her own spinoff, “The Amanda Show,” in 1999.

She announced her hiatus from acting in 2010 when rumors of substance abuse surfaced. Following a very public breakdown, she was put under a conservatorship in August 2013.

The “What I Like About You” alum then enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in 2014 and graduated in 2019.

Her conservatorship then concluded last year and she entered cosmetology school to become a licensed manicurist.

The “Saturday Night Live” comedian and the “Game Shakers” actor also brought joyous news to fans on March 17 when they announced they are making a sequel to their much beloved 1997 comedy, “Good Burger.”

Production will begin in May and will premiere on Paramount+. “I can’t believe it’s been a little over 25 years since great customer service was born at Good Burger!” Thompson noted in a statement.

He continued: “Being a part of something so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud and now to be back where it all began working on the sequel is surreal!”
