Director Teases ‘Incredibly Exciting’ Action in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’

According to director Julius Onah, the film’s action sequences are incredibly exciting, pushing Mackie’s Sam Wilson to the limit.

Speaking to Empire, Onah said, “The action in this movie is incredibly exciting because this is a guy who can break; this is a guy who can bleed. Onah added, “We get to have a lot of fun pushing him to the limit.”

Onah continued, “Part of the challenge for Sam as Captain America, working within the government, is the way he’s going to make decisions. The point of view he’s going to have will at times put him at odds with the President.” Onah added, “Sam finds himself almost standing between Samuel Sterns and what he thinks the government owes him and how he wants to go about getting that.”

Recently, we got the first look at Danny Ramirez‘s Falcon from ‘Brave New World’ from the official McDonald’s promotional ad.

The first footage of ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ was shown at CinemaCon 2024. During the event, Kevin Feige compared ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ to ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ stating, “It is a relatively grounded action thriller.” Feige added that the film will be a “grounded action thriller.”

Directed by Onah from a screenplay by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. The film stars Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Ramirez as Joaquín Torres/Falcon, Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns/Leader, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, Shira Haas as Ruth Bat-Seraph/Sabra, and Xosha Roquemore.

We reported that the latest Captain America film received a negative response at an internal test screening. Reshoots are now scheduled for up to six months (January to June 2024), during which three major sequences will be either cut or reworked, resulting in the delay of the film’s release to 2025.

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ hits theaters on February 14, 2025.
